Four New Volvo FE Rigids Mark a Double First for Kenyon Haulage Ltd.
Kenyon Haulage Ltd, Blackburn, has added four new Volvo FE models to its fleet. The new arrivals are their first Volvo trucks and the first brand-new rigids bought by the business.

Supplied by Luke Talbot, Customer Solutions Manager at Thomas Hardie Commercials Ltd., the Volvo FE 6x2 rigids are powered by Euro-6, D8K engines producing a maximum power output of 280hp. Kenyon Haulage also opted for Volvo’s industry-leading, I-Shift 12-speed automated transmission systems, which drive single reduction axles with a ratio of 4.63:1. The single tyre tag axle chassis are fitted with front steel and rear air suspension, in addition to FE Sleeper Cabs. Foster Commercials Ltd, Preston, constructed the curtainside bodies and each is equipped with a tuck-away tail lift.

The Volvo FE rigids were ordered after the performance of a similar demonstration vehicle. “In the past our company has bought used rigid vehicles, but a change in strategy led to trialling a Volvo FE. Driver feedback on the demonstration vehicle was good, whilst the vehicle quality, price and projected residual values were all attractive,” reports Graham Darnell Managing Director at Kenyon Haulage Ltd.

Graham adds, “The initial sales process was excellent and the same continues with aftersales support from Thomas Hardie Commercials. We opted for Volvo’s top option, Gold Service Contract for a five-year period and we also utilise evening and weekend servicing slots to maximise vehicle utilisation figures.”

Kenyon Haulage will use the new Volvo quartet for pallet network collections or deliveries, in addition to long distance haulage operations across the UK.
