Health & Safety / Facilities Officer (Naas)

EH&S/Facilities Officer required to proactively manage environment, health, safety, welfare, and facility maintenance Company-wide, ensuring statutory compliance and best safe working practices.

Job Purpose:
To proactively manage environment, health, safety, welfare, and facility maintenance Company-wide, ensuring statutory compliance and best safe working practices.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Proactively champion the Health and Safety function and safe working practices across the whole Company
  • Lead and manage all environmental regulatory requirements, developing and maintaining environmental programmes as required
  • Monitor relevant legislative updates, ensuring necessary changes are applied promptly
  • Regularly review and update Company Risk Assessments, Safe Operating Procedures and Safety Statement, communicating updates Company wide
  • Maintain and update Quality, Safety & Environmental policies in line with ISO 9001 & 14001 standards 
  • Conduct regular safety audits to ensure statutory compliance and Company standards are maintained
  • Investigate, record and report  accidents, incidents and near misses promptly, ensuring any corrective actions are applied without delay & compliance reviewed thereafter
  • Provide relevant accident information for insurance purposes
  • Maintain and report on accident, incident and near miss statistics highlighting any data trends
  • Provide EH&S and Facilities KPI reports on a monthly basis & other ad-hoc reports as required
  • Conduct weekly safety walks and team briefs, ensuring standards are maintained and any remedial actions are addressed promptly
  • Proactively manage and resolve facility & maintenance related queries or issues
  • Schedule and manage maintenance of all Company property/premises,  workshop equipment and associated equipment calibrations
  • Organise and manage contractors carrying out maintenance and repairs on Company property and equipment, monitoring job progress and controlling costs
  • Mange costs of facilities maintenance against agreed budgets, identifying and implementing cost savings where appropriate
  • Hold regular safety committee meetings, ensuring action points are addressed and closed out in a timely manner 
  • Identify new and on-going safety related training requirements, ensuring all mandatory training is reviewed and delivered on time
  • Deliver new employee inductions and industry relevant EH&S training including; Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels,  Ergonomic assessments & VDU Assessments 
  • Manage and supervise a team of cleaning personnel (currently 2 people), including monitoring & managing attendance, performance, conduct and work standards of direct reports, administering corrective action and support as required in line with company processes and procedures
  • Participate in training and development programmes as required by the Company
  • To undertake any other duties or activities as required by the Company
Skills Profile:

  • Relevant third level Health & Safety qualification or equivalent 
  • Supervisory/people development experience
  • Qualified Manual Handling Instructor
  • Qualified VDU & Ergonomic assessor (an advantage)
  • Qualified Abrasive Wheels assessor (an advantage)
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills 
  • Highly organised and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Computer literate
  • Experience working in a Health & Safety role in the motor industry an advantage
